Section (B) COMMON CHRONIC INFECTIVE CONJUNCTIVITIS
Common chronic infective conjunctivitis (CIC) affects
a relatively large proportion of people to a varying degree. The
main symptom is irritation of the eyes. If there is a concurrent
dry eye problem, there is relatively more
irritation such as a feeling of sand or grit in the corners of the
eyes and mild itching or burning of the eyes. If the eyes are not
lacking in tears there is probably less irritation. In this case
there may only be mild stinging, however, the eyes often become
watery. Mucous or "sleep" in the corner of the eyes upon
awakening is also common.
