Radiation Emissions
There has been discussion in the past regarding possible adverse
health effects from electro-magnetic radiation emission.
However, the amounts of UV and other higher frequency radiations
emitted from VDU's have been found to be very low and do not appear
to carry any measurable health risk. Some investigators have been
concerned with the lower frequency (radio, VLF and ELF) radiations
associated with VDU's. Whether or not long term exposure to these
low level types of radiation can produce adverse health effects,
is still an issue of controversy.
Ergonomic design of the computer and the surrounds is important
in preventing spinal-related problems which are often a cause of
headache. Refer to the following link for details on ergonomics
and further discussion on healthy
computing.
